Jesus Antonio Arce was a 29-year-old White / Caucasian man from Chicago, Illinois, described by his family as a loving son and brother. He enjoyed his job, baseball, and skateboarding. Those who knew him remembered Jesus as a hardworking and beautiful soul who loved the people around him.
On the morning of April 13, 2024, the Chicago Fire Department responded to a “person down” call in the Logan Square neighborhood.
Around 6:30 a.m., they discovered Jesus in an alley behind the 2600 block of North Sawyer Avenue. He had been shot multiple times, with wounds to the side of his chest and a knee, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police had been called to the area earlier that morning, around 1:20 a.m., for reports of shots fired, but they did not find any signs of a crime at that time. Investigators later came to believe that an altercation involving Jesus began in Logan Square Park. After being shot, he made his way to the alley on Sawyer, where he collapsed.
An arrest was eventually made in the case. Following the investigation, prosecutors charged a suspect named Lebron with the murder of Jesus Arce. The break in the case came after ballistics testing linked a firearm to the crime. According to prosecutors, the suspect also searched online for information about the murder more than 50 times after it happened.
The case is now in the litigation phase and proceeding through the court system.
