Ira Fields, 69, a man, was fatally shot on the evening of June 8, 2025, in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood, as he and another man walked out of E & J Liquors in the 5400 block of South Damen Avenue. Around 8:05 p.m., three people stepped out of a dark sedan—described by witnesses and police as a dark Chevrolet Cruze—and opened fire. The second man, 51, was hit in the leg and rear and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was initially reported in fair condition.
