On August 4, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in the Chinatown neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, resulting in the death of 39-year-old Joseph M. Garcia. The incident took place around 3:01 a.m. in the 2100 block of South Canal Street, outside Lawrence's Fish and Shrimp restaurant.
In addition to Garcia's death, three other individuals were injured in the shooting. A 34-year-old man was transported to Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds to the leg and was listed in fair condition.
A 21-year-old man and a 27-year-old man self-transported to Stroger Hospital; the 21-year-old was in good condition, while the 27-year-old was in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds.
As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Area One detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
