On August 9, 2024, Eric Irvin, a 39-year-old resident of Zion, Illinois, was fatally shot in an incident that occurred early in the morning. The Zion Police Department received a report of shots fired at approximately 2:40 a.m. and responded to a residence in the 2900 block of Elizabeth Avenue.
