Diego Carreto, a 17-year-old boy from Zion, Illinois, tragically lost his life on July 7, 2022, due to a fatal gunshot wound. The incident occurred during a robbery near his home on Gideon Avenue. Diego, who was of Hispanic descent, was an upcoming senior at Zion-Benton Township High School and was known for his vibrant personality and love for music. He was shot in the chest and despite being transported to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
