Jonathan Barr, one of the Dixmoor Five, tragically lost his life in a mass shooting on August 20, 2024, in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. At the time of his death, Barr was 46 years old. He was riding his motorcycle with friends in broad daylight when the group and others in the vicinity were sprayed with bullets. While several of his friends were wounded in the incident, Barr was the only one to suffer fatal injuries.
