Corporal Brandon Schreiber, a 32-year-old officer with the Newton County Sheriff's Office in northwest Indiana, succumbed to gunshot wounds on September 11, 2024, after being injured in a shootout on September 1, 2024. The incident occurred during a vehicle pursuit that began in Iroquois County, Illinois, where officers were chasing a suspect believed to be armed and possibly holding a hostage.
