On the evening of November 7, 2016, 17-year-old African American male Jeremiah Parker was fatally shot during an attempted carjacking in Chicago's South Austin neighborhood. Around 8:30 p.m., as Jeremiah exited a vehicle in the 500 block of North Lockwood Avenue, an assailant wearing a black hoodie approached and demanded his car keys.
