On October 1, 2024, 17-year-old Stephanie Lopez Ramirez was found dead in an apartment in the Humboldt Park area of Chicago's west side. She had sustained a gunshot wound to her left arm and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation led to the identification of Juan David Ramirez-Olivo, a 19-year-old male migrant, as a person of interest in her death. Ramirez-Olivo was in the apartment with Lopez Ramirez when the shooting occurred. He claimed that the shooting was an accident, ...
