Tonya Michelle Carter, 50, passed away on March 4, 2023, after being critically injured in a shooting on February 18, 2023, at a Motel 6 in Columbus, Georgia. The incident involved a violent attack that claimed the lives of her husband, Michael Carter Sr., 54, and her son, Michael Carter Jr., 19. A 4-year-old toddler was also injured but survived the attack. Tonya fought for her life for two weeks before succumbing to her injuries in a hospital.
