On the evening of February 19, 2023, the life of 39-year-old Travis Denson was tragically cut short in Valdosta, Georgia. What began as an evening drive turned into a scene of violence and chaos on the 200 block of Holliday Street. Denson was behind the wheel of his vehicle when he was shot, causing him to lose control and crash into a nearby house. When police responded to multiple 911 calls about the incident, they found Denson lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to South Georgia Medical Center, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a man walking away from the crashed vehicle. This individual was later identified as 43-year-old Dimitrious Conley. A Valdosta Police Department K-9 unit was deployed to track the suspect. The search led them behind a local church where the K-9 alerted to a trashcan. Inside, officers discovered Conley hiding and took him into custody. Investigators determined that Conley had been a passenger in the car Denson was driving at the time of the shooting.
Following his arrest, Dimitrious Conley was transported to the Lowndes County Jail. He faced a slew of charges, including felony murder, felony aggravated assault, and felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Additionally, he was charged with a misdemeanor for obstruction of an officer, as he initially refused to provide law enforcement with his name and date of birth.
