In the early morning hours of April 29, 2023, the life of 43-year-old Lemuel Wilson was tragically cut short in his Macon, Georgia home. It was just after 7:00 a.m. when deputies responded to a call of a person shot in the 1400 block of Fourth Avenue. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Wilson, a male, unresponsive inside the residence. He had sustained at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the deputy coroner.
According to initial reports from the
Bibb County Sheriff's Office, Wilson was in the residence with a woman when an unknown individual fired multiple shots into the home. The barrage of gunfire ultimately led to Wilson's fatal injuries. The woman who was present in the home at the time of the shooting was not physically harmed during the incident. The authorities were notified, and an investigation into the homicide was launched.
A few days following the deadly shooting, investigators from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office made a significant breakthrough in the case. On May 2, 2023, they arrested 20-year-old Isaiah Joshua Bailey in connection with Wilson's death. Bailey was taken into custody after he agreed to meet with investigators for questioning. Following the interview, he was charged with murder and transported to the Bibb County jail, where he was held without bond. The investigation was noted as ongoing, with law enforcement continuing to gather information about the incident.
