On June 20, 2023, 22-year-old Deontae "Boola" Brown was fatally shot in a targeted attack in southwest Atlanta. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. at 765 McDaniel St. SW, near the Heritage Station senior housing community. Two individuals, including Brown and 15-year-old Mario Favors, were killed, while a third victim sustained injuries and was transported to Grady Hospital.
