On October 2, 2014, Lydia Huggins, age 49, was fatally shot during a home invasion in Seminole Heights, Tampa, Florida. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. when suspects entered the residence, demanding money. Tyrone Spiller, who had just arrived at his uncle's home, was shot first by the intruders. The bullet passed through a bathroom wall, striking Huggins in the stomach. She was rushed to Tampa General Hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.
