Jaylan James Martin, a 24-year-old Black man from Savannah, Georgia, was shot on July 22, 2023, near the intersection of Indiana Avenue and Ohio Avenue, in a burst of violence that turned an ordinary summer evening into a homicide investigation. Savannah police said officers were called to the scene around 6:50 p.m. and found him suffering from serious gunshot wounds.
