In the summer of 2023, the life of 44-year-old Quionez Mabry was tragically cut short in a park in southwest Atlanta. On the morning of August 21st, his body was discovered by a pond in Dean Rusk Park, located on Lawton Street. Atlanta Fire Rescue personnel were the first to respond to the scene and pronounced him dead.
The initial discovery launched a death investigation by the Atlanta Police Department. It was soon determined that Mabry had sustained a gunshot wound.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office later officially identified the victim as Quionez Mabry.
Homicide investigators were called to the park to begin the painstaking process of piecing together the events that led to Mabry's death. They canvassed the area for evidence and sought to identify any potential witnesses who might have seen or heard something unusual.
Despite the ongoing investigation, details regarding a motive for the shooting have not been released to the public.
