Village Marshal Owen Ferguson, a 24-year-old male, was tragically killed on December 25, 1908, in Atlanta, Georgia. Marshal Ferguson was performing his duties when he arrested a man for public intoxication in front of a local gambling house. As he was escorting the arrested individual to the village lockup, the man's brother approached from behind and shot Marshal Ferguson in the back, resulting in his immediate death.
