In the quiet city of Vidalia, Georgia, a tragedy unfolded on the evening of November 8, 2023, forever altering the lives of one family. Ladarius Devonte Cobb, a 31-year-old male, was fatally shot in the 700 block of Georgia Street. The Vidalia Police Department received reports of the shooting at approximately 7:26 p.m. and upon their arrival, they discovered Cobb unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of Ladarius Cobb was a collaborative effort between the Vidalia Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Their diligent work, which included gathering information from witnesses and family members, soon pointed toward a suspect. Less than two months after the fatal shooting, an arrest was made.
On December 28, 2023, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service – Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, authorities apprehended 23-year-old Azirian Wright in Vidalia. Wright was subsequently charged in connection with the death of Cobb, facing counts of Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm or Knife During Certain Crimes.
