On the evening of Thursday, July 23, 2026, the quiet of a neighborhood in Vidalia, Georgia, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. At approximately 6:14 p.m., a concerned citizen contacted Toombs County 911 to report that shots had been fired at a home in the 1000 block of Easter Drive. Officers from the Vidalia Police Department were promptly dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival and entry into the residence, they made a grim discovery.
Inside the home, officers found the bodies of 20-year-old Xzavier Elijah Andrews and 17-year-old Za'Mariyah Nicole Robinson. Both individuals had sustained apparent gunshot wounds and were pronounced deceased at the scene. The Vidalia Police Department subsequently requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to lead the inquiry into the double homicide. The bodies of both victims were transported to the GBI Medical Examiner's Office for autopsies to be performed. Two other children were also found inside the home, but were unharmed.
As the investigation commenced, authorities began the process of piecing together the events that led to the tragic deaths of the two young people. The GBI has described the investigation as active and ongoing. At the time of the initial reports, law enforcement had not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shootings. While preliminary information in one report suggested the possibility of a murder-suicide, this has not been officially confirmed. Once the GBI's investigation is complete, the case file will be turned over to the Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for review. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the case to contact the GBI's Regional Investigative Office in Eastman or the Vidalia Police Department. The case remains an open investigation into the circumstances surrounding the violent deaths of Xzavier Elijah Andrews and Za'Mariyah Nicole Robinson.
