In the late afternoon of December 3, 2023, a dispute at a gas station on Browns Mill Road in Lithonia, Georgia, turned deadly, claiming the life of 36-year-old Desmond Barcolleh. What began as a verbal argument between Barcolleh and another man escalated with tragic swiftness into a shooting.
Responding to reports of a person shot just before 4 p.m., DeKalb County police arrived at a crime scene, but the victim was no longer there. Barcolleh had been whisked away in a private vehicle and taken to a nearby hospital to treat his life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts to save him, he succumbed to his wounds and died at the hospital.
The investigation into the shooting led authorities to identify 26-year-old Prince Jordan Jr. as the suspect. Nearly three weeks after the fatal encounter, on December 22, 2023, a coordinated effort involving the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office fugitive unit, Georgia State Patrol SWAT officers, and technological support from the U.S. Secret Service, resulted in Jordan's arrest at an apartment on Evans Mill Road. He was taken into custody and booked into the DeKalb County jail, facing a charge of malice murder in connection with the death of Desmond Barcolleh.
Desmond Barcolleh was laid to rest on December 16, 2023, at Hillandale Memorial Gardens in Lithonia, following a funeral service at Life Abundantly Church.
