Melissa Jean Thrower Poitevient, a 36-year-old resident of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away on December 9, 2023, due to a tragic incident of domestic violence. She was shot by her husband, with whom she had been married for 18 years, in what has been described as a murder-suicide event. The shooting occurred in Bainbridge, a city located approximately 3.5 hours south of Atlanta, Georgia.
