On the night of April 28, 2016, 22-year-old Quentieria Knight, a female employee at the Elberta Crate and Box Company in Bainbridge, Georgia, offered a ride home to her 24-year-old coworker, Demarquis Glenn. This act of kindness would tragically be her last. The following morning, on April 29, 2016, a concerned citizen reported a vehicle partially parked in the roadway on Zorn Road that had been running for several hours. When deputies from the Decatur County Sheriff's Office arrived, they discovered Knight in the driver's seat of her white Chevrolet Cobalt; she had been shot multiple times in the face, neck, and hands and was deceased.
The investigation, a joint effort between the Decatur County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, quickly focused on Demarquis Glenn. Investigators learned that Knight and Glenn had left work together around 11:30 p.m. on April 28th. Utilizing GPS tracking data from Knight's vehicle and surveillance footage from a nearby convenience store, authorities were able to piece together a timeline of events. The GPS showed that after leaving their workplace, the vehicle traveled to the intersection of Highway 27 and Zorn Road, where it stopped at 11:46 p.m. and did not move again. Surveillance video from a nearby Mr. Pips store captured Glenn walking up to the store from the direction of the crime scene just minutes later.
Following these leads, investigators took Glenn into custody for questioning and subsequently arrested him on April 29, 2016. He was charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. A search of Glenn's residence on Bethel Road uncovered the firearm used in the homicide, which ballistics testing matched to the evidence found at the scene. In a further development, the same weapon was linked to the September 2015 murder of Marcus Bell. Glenn, who was also known by the nickname 'Scooter,' was later indicted by a grand jury for the murders of both Quentieria Knight and Marcus Bell.
After a three-day trial in February 2018, a Decatur County jury found Demarquis Glenn guilty on all counts related to the murder of Quentieria Knight, including malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault. The prosecution argued that Glenn was a 'cold-blooded killer' who was incapable of rehabilitation. The judge sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole, with an additional five consecutive years for the firearm charge, ensuring that Knight's killer would spend the rest of his life behind bars.
