On a January afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia, the life of 18-year-old Montravious Pitts was tragically cut short. On January 2, 2024, Pitts and two other individuals were victims of a drive-by shooting in the Mechanicsville neighborhood, near Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard and Windsor Street. All three victims were transported to a local hospital, but Montravious Pitts succumbed to his injuries.
The shooting was described by investigators as a targeted attack, with an unidentified number of suspects opening fire from a white sedan. His family remembers him as a good kid who was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
In the months following the shooting, the Atlanta Police Department worked to identify those responsible. In March, authorities publicly identified two suspects, 22-year-old Desmond Lindsey and 21-year-old Terrance Cole. The two were wanted for questioning in connection with the fatal shooting. According to arrest warrants, both Lindsey and Cole were accused of knowingly and intentionally shooting Pitts and the other two victims.
By early May, both suspects were in custody. Terrance Cole was apprehended on April 4th with the assistance of Fulton County deputies. Desmond Lindsey was arrested and booked into the county jail on May 1st. Both men face charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. They are currently being held without bond. Both Lindsey and Cole have prior criminal histories. The investigation into the triple shooting remains ongoing, and authorities have not released a motive or confirmed if any other suspects are being sought.
