On a Friday afternoon in Columbus, Georgia, the life of 21-year-old Troyverion Williams, a Black male, was tragically cut short. The events of January 19, 2024, unfolded in the Oakland Park neighborhood, where gunfire shattered the late afternoon quiet. When Columbus Police Officers responded to reports of a shooting on Wise Street, near Key Elementary School, at approximately 3:52 p.m., they discovered a grim scene.
Williams was found with gunshot wounds, one of two victims in what was
being investigated as a double homicide. The other victim was identified as 34-year-old Theodore Alexander. One of the men was located in the front yard of a residence, while the other was found inside a vehicle parked along the street. Despite the efforts of emergency medical services, neither man could be resuscitated, and both were pronounced dead at the scene at 4:36 p.m.
