On a Thursday evening, February 22, 2024, the life of 21-year-old Michael Bartholomew Nixon Jr., a Black male, was tragically cut short in Augusta, Georgia. The fatal incident unfolded around 7:30 p.m. near his home at the intersection of Tullocks Hill Drive and Glenn Hills Drive. Nixon was discovered on the ground, having sustained at least one gunshot wound. Despite prompt medical assistance, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting led to the apprehension of two individuals. Cecil Martin, 17, and Cequez Ceni'Je Jones, 20, were arrested and subsequently charged with murder and weapon possession. According to arrest warrants, Martin allegedly drove a blue Nissan Sentra to the location, from which Jones is said to have exited and fatally shot Nixon. Following the shooting, the two fled the scene. Both Martin and Jones are being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center without bond.

His funeral was held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at B.A. Williams Memorial Chapel, and he was laid to rest at Mount Olive Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his parents, siblings, and a large extended family.
