In Augusta, Georgia, a young Black man's life was tragically cut short in an act of violence that stemmed from him defending his sister. Nineteen-year-old Makel Jones was a father to a one-year-old boy and an active member of his community, known for his time spent at the Boys and Girls Club. He also had an identical twin brother who is now left to mourn his profound loss. The events leading to his death unfolded just before midnight on April 1, 2024, on the 2000 block of Bolt Drive.
