On a warm summer evening in Augusta, Georgia, on June 22, 2017, 16-year-old Nicholas Griffin, an African American male, was at a birthday party on Jonathan Court. The joyous atmosphere was shattered when a red car approached the residence, its engine revving before gunfire erupted. In the chaos, Nicholas was struck by a bullet in the hip. He was rushed to a nearby medical center, but despite undergoing surgery, he tragically succumbed to his injuries early the next morning.
