On April 29, 2024, 11-year-old Zander Trayvon Jmeer Whatley was fatally shot in his family's home in the Smallwood Farms subdivision on Ruth Way in Douglasville, Paulding County, Georgia. The incident occurred when Zander, a fifth-grade student at Hutchens Elementary School, was inside his home with his mother, Shareeda Alexander Dorsey, her husband, and nine of their 13 children.
