In the summer of 2022, a visit with family turned tragic for 21-year-old Angel Felix. Originally from Glendale, Arizona, the young man was in Edison, Georgia, when he and three other individuals traveled more than 175 miles north to Douglasville for what police believe was a drug deal on July 6. The group ended up in the parking lot of the Douglas Commons Shopping Center, near a McDonald's. It was there that an altercation ended with Felix being fatally shot. His body was discovered lying next to a BMW SUV with multiple bullet holes in the driver's side window. Investigators also found a significant amount of suspected narcotics and cash a short distance from his body.
The investigation into the shooting led authorities to identify several individuals believed to be involved. Two people, 29-year-old Janaya Campbell and 26-year-old Ismael Gomez, were apprehended in separate South Georgia counties shortly after the incident. Both were subsequently charged in connection with Felix's death and were denied bond. The bullet-riddled vehicle that Felix had been in was later found in South Georgia and impounded by the Douglasville Police Department to be processed for evidence.
In addition to the two arrests, law enforcement issued warrants for three more suspects: Abel Santiago, Ovicel Santiago, and Victor Maldonado, for their alleged involvement in the deadly shooting. Authorities also publicly stated they were seeking to speak with another man, Kevin Martinez, who they believed was also in the vehicle at the time of the incident. The Douglasville Police Department asked for the public's help in locating these individuals to bring them to justice for their roles in the killing.
