Liston Rue Chunn, a 44-year-old Black man from Douglasville, Georgia, died on July 16, 1990, in what began as an ordinary night at a Best Western motel and ended in terror. He was there with his fiancée, Regina Thomas, and her children, while in a neighboring room another couple was already being robbed.
