On May 24, 2024, 29-year-old Sametria Shavon Latricia Edwards-McCord, a resident of Decatur, Georgia, was fatally shot during a repast service for a family member. The incident occurred in the 2000 block of Chestnut Hill Circle in DeKalb County, where a large crowd had gathered outside a house.
