In the early morning hours of Saturday, June 15, 2024, a shooting shattered the quiet of the 1000 block of Samson Avenue in Columbus, Georgia. Responding to the scene, law enforcement found that 46-year-old Versher Williams had been injured in the gunfire. Emergency services transported him to Piedmont Columbus Regional for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Versher Williams, a man originally from Newark, New Jersey, succumbed to his injuries two days later.
He was pronounced dead at 5:08 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024. His death was officially ruled a homicide by the Muscogee County Coroner's office.
The Columbus Police Department is actively investigating the shooting of Versher Williams.
