On July 2, 2024, 13-year-old Ja'Kody Davis was tragically shot and killed in Atlanta's Oakland City neighborhood. The incident occurred at the West End Apartments during a birthday celebration for his best friend, Lamon Freeman, who also lost his life in the shooting. Ja'Kody's younger brother, Dontavious "DJ" Davis, aged 12, was critically injured but is expected to recover.
