In the summer of 2021, a dispute in the parking lot of a Southwest Atlanta apartment complex escalated into a fatal act of violence, claiming the life of 32-year-old Nicholas P. Brown. The male victim was found by police on the evening of July 20, 2021, suffering from a gunshot wound at the Kimberly Way apartments. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led to a suspect.
Witnesses and evidence pointed to a confrontation between Brown and Tynessia Lashun Naji, a 24-year-old woman. According to police reports, a fight between the two preceded the deadly shooting. The day after the incident, Naji was taken into custody by law enforcement.
Following her arrest, Tynessia Lashun Naji was charged with murder and aggravated assault in connection with Nicholas Brown's death. She was subsequently booked into the Fulton County Jail. Brown, born on March 4, 1989, was remembered by his family, including his parents and a brother. His graveside service was held at Union Cemetery.
