On July 17, 2024, 16-year-old Jakari Rayshard Brooks, the nephew of Rayshard Brooks, was fatally shot in a northwest Atlanta neighborhood. The incident occurred in the 1000 block of Cato Street NW, where police responded to reports of a shooting around 4:30 a.m..
