On July 17, 2024, 16-year-old Jakari Rayshard Brooks, the nephew of Rayshard Brooks, was fatally shot in a northwest Atlanta neighborhood. The incident occurred in the 1000 block of Cato Street NW, where police responded to reports of a shooting around 4:30 a.m..

According to Jakari's mother, Stardrecous Brooks, the shooting is believed to have resulted from a fight over a scooter. She stated that her son and others had gone to retrieve a scooter from a house in the area, which led to a ...Read More
