In the early morning hours of July 17, 2024, the life of 16-year-old Jakari Brooks was cut short by gunfire in Atlanta, Georgia. Jakari, a young male, was found deceased on Cato Street after his mother, Stardrecous Brooks, grew worried when he did not return home the previous night. She recalled hearing five gunshots, a chilling premonition to the devastating news she would soon receive. It was a friend of her son who made the grim discovery hours later.
