In the early evening of Thursday, May 18, 2023, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in the 300 block of Franklin Street NE in Washington, D.C. When the sounds of the shots faded, a man lay gravely wounded. Fifth District officers responded to a report of the shooting at approximately 6:47 p.m. and discovered an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds.
