Kevin Mason, a 17-year-old male, was shot and killed on Sunday, June 18, 2023, in the 2700 block of Langston Place, SE. The incident, which occurred at approximately 8:43 p.m., also claimed the life of his 15-year-old cousin, Demarcos Pinckney.
The two teenagers were outside when gunfire erupted.
Mason was struck in the neck, and Pinckney was hit in the back. Both were transported to local hospitals where they succumbed to their injuries. The family had been together for a Father's Day gathering just hours before the fatal shooting. Friends and neighbors remembered the cousins as good kids who participated in after-school programs and stayed out of trouble.
The double homicide left their family shattered, with two sisters losing their sons in a single act of violence.
