In the summer of 2023, a wave of violence struck Washington, D.C., and among the victims was a young man named Nijae Boddie. On the night of Wednesday, June 28, 2023, the 19-year-old male was in the 1900 block of 16th Street, Southeast, when the sound of gunshots pierced the air at approximately 10:00 p.m. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to the scene where they discovered Boddie suffering from a gunshot wound.
