On the evening of August 5, 2023, 27-year-old Tymea Cook was fatally shot in a mass shooting on Good Hope Road in Southeast, Washington, D.C. The incident, which occurred around 8:22 p.m., resulted in the deaths of two other individuals, 35-year-old Bernard Hodges and 34-year-old Reginald Gilbert, and left two other men injured. Emergency services responded to the scene and pronounced Cook, Hodges, and Gilbert deceased.
