On Monday, August 14, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Northeast Washington, D.C., resulting in the death of 71-year-old Eddie Curtis. The incident took place in the 800 block of 10th Street, near the H Street Corridor, at approximately 11:29 a.m..

When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene around 11:24 a.m., they found Eddie Curtis suffering from gunshot wounds. He was unconscious and not breathing at the time of their arrival.
