Johnny Jack, a 73-year-old white male from Juneau, Alaska, moved through downtown on a familiar circuit. Friends saw him on Friday, October 14, 1988, keeping his ritual stop at the Viking Restaurant before heading to the bank and exchanging greetings along the way. After that afternoon, the friendly regular vanished from the sidewalks he frequented.
