Garrett Daniel Hughes, a 21-year-old from Key West, Florida, died in the early morning hours of February 13, 2023, after being shot in the abdomen outside the now-closed Conch Town Liquor & Lounge, located at 3340 N. Roosevelt Boulevard. The incident occurred just hours after the Super Bowl, where the Kansas City Chiefs had defeated the Philadelphia Eagles.
