John Harold Cruz, a 58-year-old male from Key West, FL, was found dead on September 18, 2016, inside his home at 312 Peacon Lane. Cruz, who had worked as a city building inspector from 2005 to 2013, died from a gunshot wound to the back of the head. The incident was immediately classified as a homicide by the Key West police, marking the first such case in the city in four years.
