On May 15, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred in Fort Pierce, Florida, resulting in the death of 51-year-old Emmanuel Preston Knight. The incident took place late Monday morning in the 600 block of South 12th Street, near Delaware Avenue, and between Easter Avenue and Florida Avenue.
Fort Pierce police responded to the area after receiving a call at 11:49 a.m. regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers found Knight suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was immediately rushed to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital by St. Lucie County Fire Rescue, where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation into Knight's death is ongoing, and the Fort Pierce Police Department is seeking any information that might lead to identifying the perpetrator.
