On July 31, 2023, a shooting incident occurred near Kissimmee, Florida, resulting in the death of 18-year-old Asad Brinson. The incident happened around 8:20 p.m. in the area of Tampa Avenue, between Michigan Avenue and Orange Blossom Trail, just south of Osceola Parkway.
Deputies from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, they found two black males with apparent gunshot wounds.
One male was located in a vehicle and was transported to a hospital, where he was placed on life support. The other male, identified as Asad Brinson, was found on the ground and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and it is not yet clear what led to the incident or if the men shot each other. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Marcos Lopez, has stated that they will provide updates as more information becomes available.
Asad Brinson had a prior history with law enforcement. He was scheduled for trial in October 2023 after being arrested on January 7 of the same year and charged with grand theft of a firearm. During a traffic stop, law enforcement discovered concealed guns in the vehicle he was driving, one of which was identified as stolen. Additionally, Brinson was arrested on a misdemeanor affray charge following a large-scale fight at the Osceola County Fair on February 17, which resulted in the fair being closed for the night.
