On September 9, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Southwest Miami-Dade, resulting in the deaths of two teenage brothers, Osvaldo Martinez Marquez, 16, and Alexis Martinez Marquez, 19. The Miami-Dade Police Department responded to a report of shots being fired at 10214 SW 175th St. around 5:22 p.m. and found the bodies of the two brothers in an abandoned part of a duplex.
The victims were discovered with apparent gunshot wounds, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that both teens were deceased at the scene. The Miami-Dade Police Department's Homicide Bureau has taken over the investigation and is actively seeking information to identify any individuals involved in the shooting. However, as of the current reports, no leads or information about a suspect, possible getaway car, or motive have been released by the police.

The parents, Sita Marquez and Jose Martinez, have spoken out about their loss, describing their sons as good kids who had dreams of working to support their family. Sita Marquez expressed her desire for justice, hoping that finding those responsible would prevent further harm to others. A vigil was held in West Perrine, where neighbors and friends gathered to pay their respects to the brothers. Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers has released a flyer appealing for help and offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that could aid in the investigation.
