Antonio Dominic Tillie Jr., a 19-year-old from Jacksonville, Florida, was fatally shot on October 6, 2023, in what authorities believe was a gang-related incident involving a $20,000 bounty.
The incident occurred on Kylan Drive off Moncrief Road, where Tillie Jr. and an Uber driver, Bryant Grund, 31, were found shot to death in a Mini Cooper. Tillie Jr. was in the backseat, while Grund, who was an innocent bystander, was in the front seat.
Grund was described as being "caught literally in the middle of this $20K hit, unbeknownst to him" by former JSO director Tom Hackney.
Investigations revealed that Tillie Jr. was lured to the location by Diamond Harris, 23, who is the girlfriend of the primary suspect, Ju’Quan Mills, 22. Harris and Tillie Jr. had been communicating on Instagram and through text messages and phone calls. Detectives believe Harris set up the meeting under the pretense of a date, and Mills carried out the shooting, collecting half of the bounty, which was $10,000.
Both Ju’Quan Mills and Diamond Harris have been arrested in connection with the double murder. Mills pleaded not guilty during his arraignment, while Harris was initially charged with accessory after the fact but is now facing two counts of second-degree murder. Harris is expected to appear in court later.
Police have identified another suspect involved in the murder but are still working to track this individual down. The case highlights the violent nature of gang activities and the tragic consequences for both intended targets and innocent bystanders.
