Kenneth Dexter Hawkins, a 61-year-old African American male, passed away on July 12, 2016, in Jacksonville, Florida. Kenneth was a well-known and respected bus driver for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA). On the day of his death, a postal worker discovered his body lying in a pool of blood in the driveway of his home on Biscayne Lake Drive. The investigation revealed that Kenneth had been mowing his lawn when he was approached by Jamil Ibn Muhammad Thomas, an 18-year-old who had known Kenneth for some time.
