On May 27, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in the parking lot of Charlie’s Liquor and Hookah Lounge located on Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville, Florida. The victim, identified as 21-year-old Anthony D. Lewis, was involved in an argument that escalated into gunfire around 1:10 a.m.
During the incident, more than 100 people were present in the parking lot. The exact number of individuals involved in the shooting is unclear, but it is known that multiple shots were fired.
Lewis sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound and was driven to the hospital by witnesses before police arrived. Unfortunately, he died at the hospital.
The reason behind the argument and whether Lewis knew the shooters are still under investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO). Security guards who work at the lounge were present but did not return fire and were not involved in the shooting. The gunfire also affected nearby businesses.
As of the current date, no arrests or suspects have been reported in connection with the shooting. The JSO is seeking information from the public and has provided contact details for anyone with relevant information to come forward.
