On the evening of May 25, 2023, a burst of violence shattered the peace on Circular Avenue in Waterbury, Connecticut, leading to the tragic death of 26-year-old Denroy Robinson, a Black / African American male. The incident, which police later described as an isolated event, began as a disturbance between two individuals who were acquainted. This altercation escalated dramatically, culminating in a fatal shooting.
Responding to reports of gunfire around 7:20 p.m., Waterbury police
officers arrived at the 230 block of Circular Avenue to find a grim scene. Denroy Robinson was discovered suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services were promptly called, and he was rushed to Saint Mary's Hospital. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Robinson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
In the wake of the shooting, detectives from the Waterbury Police Department's Major Crimes Division launched an intensive investigation. Their efforts soon led to the identification of a suspect. Police secured an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Shavano Singh, charging him with murder, criminal use of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, and unlawful discharge of a firearm. Authorities have since been actively searching for Singh and have appealed to the public for any information regarding his whereabouts.
